The annual Illegal Soap Box Derby 2007 takes place this Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! October 28th at 1pm on Bernal Heights Hill in San Francisco, where for over a decade daredevil racers have competed in makeshift vehicles. There will also be a Soapbox Derby Pre-Race Party on Saturday, October 27th at El Rio in San Francisco. Telstar Logistics has a great write-up on all of this weekend’s race action.

Helvetica is a fascinating independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. The film is an exploration of urban spaces in major cities and the type that inhabits them, and a fluid discussion with renowned designers about their work, the creative process, and the choices and aesthetics behind their use of type. Helvetica encompasses the worlds of design, advertising, psychology, and communication, and invites us to take a second look at the thousands of words we see every day.
