It’s a classic example of fixie bike lust: the carefully accented color coordination, expensive but mismatched wheels, improbably narrow handlebars, and, of course, lack of any unsightly “extras” such as gears and brakes. But wait...is that a basket we see?
yeah, its too true. I built up my old IRO with promenade handlebars, a brass bell, and a basket. It looked gentlemanly in it's way, but it was still fixed, with narrow tires, and it always looked at me like "I want to go fast, and you do this to me?" A few months later, and I firmly believe this is a silly thing to do. I have my Rivendell high handlebar touring bike with a little handlebar bag, a basket every so often, and now, my pure of purpose, pure fast and uncomfortable roadster: My 2005 Pista Concept. I would never in a million years dream of putting a basket on it. It's like...putting a ski rack on your british roadster.
