What's the best gift you received this year?

Best tangible gift, anyway.

Dad gave me his vintage Leica III rangefinder. It weighs more than my first car. I hope to shoot lots of black & white in the next few weeks.

I've been using ydnar as a handle/pseudonym for 15 years, give or take. It's my name backwards, derived from a shareware game I released in 1991 called s'ydnar squares.

How many places have you lived in your life?

Lovely suggestive title, there. Anyway, I've moved 26 times in my life and lived in Virginia (5 places), Rancho Cordova, Germany, Nebraska, Missouri, Maryland (2 places), Brooklyn (2 places), Seattle (2 places), and San Francisco (6 places). Aside from a short stint in Seattle, I've been in SF for the past 7 years. The full list, omitting temporary military housing between various stops:

Today, at the company meeting. Noam led off, and I filled in some details. I felt caffeinated.

I love it when I have photos for these things. I have a glass of sickeningly green Alive! Soy Shake in the morning, mixed with rice milk (I don't do dairy). It's actually pretty good. Pista has something similar every morning too.

Patience, refinement, cooking, Pista, Vox.

The first two because life is a process. Cooking because it's currently my favorite thing to do at home. Pista and Vox should be obvious. :)

Vibrate.

Not because there's a special place in hell reserved for people who use ringtones, but because Anil's ring tone puts anything I could imagine to shame.
