Monochrome Japanese Perspective Puzzles

I have a thing for purposeful monochromatic constructions, devices that simultaneously tickle my parietal and occipital lobes, Venn diagrams of precious little intersection of the trickster, beauty and math. Childhood ingredients included parts Escher, Pinball Construction Set and the Basel School. This week I was ecstatic to be exposed to not one, but two examples of this meter—one physical, the other virtual, both Japanese, rendered in white, challenges to be experimented with.

Jose González / San Francisco / Bouncing Little Balls

Besides the very last few seconds where it shills for Sony, this is one of my favorite ads. Jose González’s spare cover of Heartbeats goes lockstep with the shots/edits, contrasting with the riotous fleet of colored balls bouncing down San Francisco’s hills. It meanders between Potrero, Russian HIll, Nob Hill and North Beach. I’m not sure this could be filmed anywhere else.

I ♥ Bluetooth Trackpad Part III

Logitech PS3 Keyboard

It’s supposedly for the PlayStation 3, but I’m going to wager it’s Bluetooth and dammit, it’s $80 instead of $200 and has a regular-old-rectangular trackpad instead of the round one on their last iteration.
