On Sunday Beau and I rode up the Marin headlands to film a long skid from the top. Since we’re good at math, our calculations for how long the tire would actually last were, in fact, wrong. Physics was working against us and the skid blew early. Fortunately, we had enough footage to fit the tune and this is what we ended up with:
- I decided that climbing Mount Everest is going to have to be done at some point.
- I smelled autumn for the first time this year yesterday, biking to work through South Park. It brought back memories of raking leaves, halloween, school starting and growing up. Nice thoughts.
- Artur and/or Ernie are going to pay for the CPU-pegging Barbie ad that's showing up on my Compose page right now. I've had to retype half this post three times because it deletes 100 chars everytime I hit Backspace.
- Cycletouring on a track bike: I think it's possible, at least if you're staying in hotels and travelling in a 1st-world country. The equipment/clothing/stuff manifest you'd need should fit comfortably in a messenger bag. Hm...
- Happy Birthday Ben!
Raced in an all fixed-gear alleycat today. The route between the checkpoints took us from the ballpark, along the Embarcadero, to the Wharf and back to Dolores Park. Traffic was dead-stopped on Van Ness. There were 5 of us in a dead heat dodging cars & Muni racing back to the park.
Got 9th place by a half second (behind Jenny, who owned on Van Ness opposing traffic). Won some sweet japanese cycling stickers!
Going on a Sunday morning fixie ride (probably to Fairfax and back, maybe White's Hill if I'm feeling ambitious). If anyone wants to meet me, I'll be at the Bridge at 9:30.
